The US Department of Labor’s Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management, Honorable Bryan Slater and Chief Information Officer Gundeep Ahluwalia will deliver remarks with a focus on shared services initiatives and IT modernization followed by a premier networking reception.
As government agencies continue to work towards modernizing information technology (IT) they are realizing new supporting legislation, technologies and funding opportunities to move toward the future of government IT which, in many cases, includes efforts to share services across agencies.
The Department of Labor (DOL) administers and enforces more than 180 federal laws. These mandates and the regulations that implement them cover many workplace activities for about 10 million employers and 125 million workers.
The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management (OASAM) provides the infrastructure and support that enables the Department of Labor to perform its mission. OASAM provides leadership and support for departmental business operations and procurement; information technology; human resources and civil rights; security and emergency management; and strategic planning.
About G. Bryan Slater

Bryan Slater was appointed by President Trump to serve as the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management in October 2017. He directs all Department processes governing the mission portfolio of the Department to include its IT infrastructure.
Prior to his role as the Assistant Secretary, Mr. Slater was appointed by Secretary Elaine Chao and approved by President Trump to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). At DOT, Mr. Slater managed all facilities operations, acquisition, human resources, security, Working Capital Fund and operations activities at the Department. In his role, he was also instrumental in driving the development of key priority government reform goals, including launching the Department’s enterprise/shared services program.

As a tech leader focused on IT innovation, Mr. Gundeep Ahluwalia leads the growth and transformation of the Department of Labor’s Information Technology (IT). Since assuming the CIO post in October 2016, Mr. Ahluwalia has provided strategic leadership for the Department’s IT planning, initiatives, staffing and services—ultimately advancing the mission critical work that the Department delivers to support American citizens. Mr. Ahluwalia engages and collaborates with senior DOL leadership, DOL agencies leaders, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and other key stakeholders to formulate IT strategies, governance policy, budget, and IT investment processes. Under his leadership, he directs IT Modernization projects, ensures information.
